Free People: A denim style story

Free People denim

Hello you lot! I hope you are all so well and have had the best week.

I’m so excited to share this with you today. I absolutely love Free People, and have always looked to them, like most of us, for their perfect Summer dresses. However, they are so much more than a great collection of Summer wear. They are a multi-brand platform, as well as stocking their own brand which is incredible. Honestly, they’ve got some of the best knitwear, and denim (!) in the business. They reached out to work on a denim story in collaboration with me, so I headed down to the showroom to try their own brand styles on, and they fit so well, come in every colour you could want and won’t break the bank. I’m only annoyed at myself for not picking up on their denim collection any sooner.

I chose two key styles in a couple of different colour ways to show you how they look, and simple ways to style them up.

It’s not fair to have a favourite look, but I’m telling you now anyway, this was mine, and I’ve worn this get-up lots since shooting it. These are the Mom jeans in mid blue, and I would never usually choose a Mom jean for fear of them feeling that bit too vintage, but these fit so well and I felt so good in them. They are a more vintage feel in terms of composition so they don’t tend to stretch, or become baggy after a few wears. I sized up by one size in these. This cardigan is flipping lovely too, a bit different for me, but I really love the cut and the colours.

Next up I chose the Rita cropped flare jeans. These are incredibly easy to style, I opted for trainers here but have been wearing them with an ankle boot too. I love the wash on these, and the high waist so I can tuck everything in. A white tee, some denim and your fave trainers will never, ever be a bad choice.

These are true to size, and have slightly more stretch to them than the Mom jeans, but still hold their shape really well after a few wears. They are really comfy too, no top button needs undoing during a big meal! I have tried and tested this….

I revisited the Mom jeans for my third look, but in the black wash. I always used to love a jet black wash in denim but now I’m really loving a washed out, more grey look. Again, I love how this style of denim fits, and looks. I just thought, ‘I need these in a couple of colours’. I chose to wear them with this camel Henley top and I’ve worn this lots too, it’s so easy to throw on, it’s warm and super soft.

I am genuinely so impressed with the denim styles that Free People offer as part of their own brand. It fits so incredibly well, comes in some great washes and like I said, is affordable and high quality.
