What real life looks like: a catch up

Hello you lovely lot! I hope you're all having the best week so far. Today, I thought I'd just chat to you and give you a little bit of an update on what I've been up to.

There's been lots of discussion, and negative conversation online about how bloggers and influencers portray their lives, particularly on Instagram. I feel that we as creators, have a responsibility to always create content that resemebles our real life- and I feel that it is irresponsible for bloggers and influencers to produce content and images that glamourise, well, glamour! We have impressionable audiences who follow us for a reason, and we have a responsibility to remain real online. So here's to keeping it real.

Where shall we start? Okay so, one of the best things to happen for me recently was a bargain eBay find in a sofa (£160!!!!) so dreamy, you wouldn't even believe your eyes….or your bottom. It's cream linen and I am bang in love with it. James and I have moaned for the best part of a year that our sofa is too small for us (we're both 6ft and over) and on impulse, I was overcome with determination to find the perfect sofa. After a slightly stressful day of waiting for it to arrive, only for it to arrive 8 hours LATE when I wasn't at home, and Lizzy swooping in to rescue us and wait in to accept it, it's in. We have never been more comfortable in our lives.

Next up, I am pleased to report that I have fallen back in love with reading before I fall asleep again. This was a habit I had for years, and then slowly wiggled out of it. I was getting to bed too late, too flustered and too stressed to remember to read, or to remember that I love reading, and that it is the best medicine for all of the above! I'm currently devouring 'Florida' by Lauren Groff, and I couldn't recommend it more.

Swimming! James and I have started swimming in the evenings, and it's one of the parts of the day I look forward to most. I feel really stress-free and chilled during, and once I get home, not to mention my appetite is mega. The cardio work out is amazing and it's so great to be able to exercise with James too! Especially as I am clearly, the stronger swimmer.

Last weekend we went to Suffolk to see James' family. I always love escaping London, and especially to visit them. We babysat for our little Niece, Lois, who was 1 in June and is hilarious, silly and loads of fun. Also, fast, very fast!! We walked down by the beach and took her paddling in the sea, and talked about how we would one day, want to move somewhere more coastal, or closer to the countryside. The older I get, the more appealing living outside of the city feels.

Over the next few weeks I have got some trips coming up that I am so looking forward to. I'm off to Palma on Monday with mum, for a 4 night girls getaway in a beautiful hotel, and the weather is looking to be 28/30 degrees and I couldn't be happier. I'm so due some proper Sue Holland time- she's absolutely class my mum, I can't tell you how hilarious she is. I love that we take these mini breaks throughout the year. Even if she is making me catch a 6am sodding flight, and insisting we arrive at the airport 3 hours before, TO EUROPE.

Then I've got a really lovely work trip planned to Devon with Liz Earle (this is yet another coastal fix and you'll be hard pushed to make me come back to London!). I've always been such a fan of Liz Earle, the brand ethos, and generally how gentle and beautiful her products are. So this is a real treat! And I know a certain Liv Purvis is going too, so I'm buzzing to be able to spend with time with her.

MEXICO! We're off to Mexico for a Holland family Christmas this year- so next week is the final payment on the holiday and I am already so, so excited to be away with the Holland's over Christmas. James will not know whats hit him! Him and my brother Mike have a fair bit in common, largely, their ability to drink and talk until the cows come home so I can't wait to see that unfold. Family time is my number 1 priority in my life, so I'm just counting down the days until I've got them all in one place, for 10 days. Don't get me wrong though, we'll be ready to kill each other after day 3.

Oh, this Gestuz cardigan and my trusty By FAR shoes also make me happy- you can find them here:

I hope you've enjoyed reading my little catch up! I just thought it was important to let you in on the things that make me happiest, and the things that are real for me. I hope you've got some brilliant weekend plans and I'll see you back here on Monday xx
